It looks like a Neopets knockoff, but there is a lot of stuff that isn't child friendly here. Avatars wear lingerie, blood, gore, and other things not for kids. "Fairies" get drunk, gamble, and straight up kill pets with names like "Guillotine fairy". There is an adults only forum that costs AU to get into. This currency can be won in-game (difficult but doable), purchased with real money, or bought from other players allowing children into an adults only forum. Items costing AU currency are required for some events or you just miss out period. It feels like they are demanding cash from players for the full experience. Ads are everywhere and not all of them are clean of viruses. There are no warnings before bans and bans happen easily to many players. Customer support is grumpy at best. Not child friendly. Barely teen friendly. Not a good site for anyone with a limited budget. Not that safe. Just no good.

I am glad that I'm not visiting or playing on this website anymore because they banned me for no good reason. I didn't feed my Marapets in a while so I guess that made the Marapets Team mad, than a week or so later when I went back to see if I could create new pets I saw a message that I was "banned." I really like Neopets a lot better, if you make a mistake they at least the Staff tell you what you did wrong. Marapets does not even give a person a reason for why they were banned which is wrong. :-(

The site is in overall, completely unsafe. It was hacked at least five times in less than a week by a hacker who was never even caught. The Staff in this game informed me that the hacker was only able to infiltrate Marapets' security because their site had NO security at all--according to them, it wasn't even necessary because they have never had an issue with hackers up until now. What kind of logic is that? It's like leaving your doors open and just waiting for the burglars to come charging in before considering those locks. Because of their incompetence, explicit material such as pornography and much more were posted for hours in a CHILDREN'S FORUM. Not only is their practice incompetent, but it's also extraordinarily unethical and I would not advise any parent to allow their children to visit this site--it's just not safe. Their ads are also constantly riddled with malware and my anti-virus has blocked dozens of attempts at a security breach while browsing its pages. Apart from the safety and ethical concerns, this site is also not worth investing in. Updates are typically delayed for months at a time, and this is because this site only has one game coder -- a man named "Ian." This man is not qualified for the job and has permitted countless bugs to exist in the game at the expense of players' good experience. It is no wonder why when I visited this site years ago, there used to be at least 5,000+ active players... but nowadays you'll hardly find it reaches as little as 600. This game is dying, and quickly. Its Staff Team is also extremely rude and will ban you without an explanation... you literally just get a ban notice with no explanation! They've banned me personally five times, and I had to spend hours arguing with them that their reasoning for doing such doesn't stick before they unbanned me. They exonerated me from everything, but after each unbanning, I never got so much as an apology and they ALWAYS acted as if I was to blame. They're evidently too prideful to admit they made a mistake. This game has provided me with what I can bluntly say the WORST consumer experience I have ever experienced and I would not recommend anyone to join this game unless they're a sucker for disappointment and abuse.

I think it is a good site, I mean, if you don't want your kid to see the ads, get Firefox 4.0 and get adblock plus. And if you don't want your kids to be around the people (Some of them are perverted/immature/trolls and can be a bad influence) just tell them to lie about their age to make them younger, and there you go. It's a really nice community sometimes when the trolls aren't on. ^_^

Ads lead to malicious websites malicious popups banned for stupid reasons dumb website

Marapets is...... a mixed website. I would have also put it for entertaining and spyware/adware and possibly even adult content. The pages are cluttered with millions of ads. There's hardly even any content on most of the pages! Around 50% or more of the ads lead to severe viruses or spyware. They have thousands of doubleclick ads, smileycentral ads, cursormania ads, neopets hack ads, etc. Just clicking on an ad can and will give you a virus or adware/spyware. Plus, there's a 98% chance that in a month of using Marapets you'll have unintentionally click on at least three or more ads. I know someone who got 67 spyware entries just from using Marapets after their computer was cleaned. Also, it made somebodies computer shut down. While it can be very fun, it's also a security risk. There are issues with account upgrades that people never got the AU points, etc. There have been various forums and problems with the now-infamous Neopets Hack ads on Marapets. Overall Security Rating: Trust 85, Vendor Reliability 82/100, Privacy ***** (still being reviewed by me, may be edits), Child Safety ***** Overall Site Rating: ***** (By the way, the owner is Ian and Laimay, so the WOT staff can take off the "whois" thing. Also, don't let this stop you from using Marapets, just be cautious and be warned.)
