Useful software, but wrapped around ancient open source tools. The components are packaged with old installers that need admin rights and mostly fail on newer Windows. The installers for the components tend to trigger warnings in some AV, but testing with VirusTotal this seems to be false positives. The software uses a version of OpenSSL from 2007 so should not be trusted for use with accounts.

Since most won't see this until after they realize what just I happened I say join the club. While the software does what it says it also screws with your browser. I had to add WOT again since it was removed along with all my other extensions. In fact it corrupted my config file for Chrome, completely screwing with me. Right now I'm going to report the site to other services as well. EDIT: Went to run a virus scan after the incident and discovered that my anti-virus software has been disabled. Currently I'm unable to access my anti-virus software.

Worst experience ever - and I did have some very malicious stuff before - quite natural when using Windows... but this one managed to beat it all. It was very intrusive (as some already commented here), installing several additional programs (but only after a while so an installation montor won't get hold of that). But as the website had an excellent rating on WOT, I didn't worry much. Then the program was quite useless for me - but again, I considered it rather a problem with my expectations. So finally I decided to delete the program, launched Ashampoo Uninstaller and all hell broke loose. It did not affect any program that was already running except slowing it down but I couldn't start any other program or subroutine (like an antivirus), eventually couldn't open folders or use Explorer and when I restarted my PC nothing ever happened. Basically, uninstalling a NCH program (WavePad in my case) will disrupt your registry. In my case it was rendered completely defunct and I had to load a Linux OS from disc in order to reset my registry. Then I had to run an complete Windows XP reinstall (the update function). Now I have to recover what I can and reinstall all software. Thank you, NCH! Don't know how that website got that excellent reputation. I guess it's because most people rate it right after installation. STAY CLEAR OF NCH IN ANY WAY!!!
