When downloaded straight from the official site I got a clean download. Some of the people who had problems probably got it from somewhere else.
Also, it probably is true that the eternally overrated and ineffective commercial AV makers probably don't like having their trialware flagged.
As far as any dangerous ads can someone please provide an actual example? By default I don't let ANY ads run.

This site is blacklisted by some AV because a) there are Trojaned versions and plain old Trojan Horses with the same file names, and b) it removes the AV trial versions that come with OEM PCs. AV isn't interested in performance, only their revenue.

A great tool to remove the bloatware the vendors ship on new PCs. Run this before you install anything else! Be sure to actually download PC Decrapifier. Some of the Ads on the site WILL link you to malware. Look before you click!!!

Mr. Science's comment is absolutely correct! This program will install a rogue security program into your computer. If you're too late and you've run this program, please update your virus, malware and spy-ware scanners and do a thorough scan.

The pcdecrapifier. Interesting name. But the name doesn't matter. It is that there is a Trojan horse hiding in the software. Don't believe me. Go ahead and download the software. It even tells you that it is a virus. The icon for the pcdecrapifier has a small horse on the screen. If you downloaded this program. Update your virus scanners and run a full scan. Just to put it short, don't use this program.
