Bundled with not-so-nice software that is not optional. Doesn't mention that it is pay-to-use. It is free to download, but once you start the program it presents you with an unclosable "support" paywall.

The emulator itself is perfectly fine, but the vendor (the original devs) have bundled their version with adware. I suggest using another vendor or an entirely different emulator instead.

Ever since version 2.0 the software has been bundled with the optional software Snap.Do and PC Optimizer.
However, downloading the installer will automatically install BundleApp, a known adware, on your PC.
If you need to download a version, go 1.6 or below as everything past it is bundled with adware.

Their latest installer installs malware into your PC. Many users have talked about not being able to avoid such malware, even when carefully going through the installer. It's a dirty trick the developers released on everyone, there are even people trying to justify their distribution of malware with poor excuses.

Project64 2.2 installs malware. It is different for each user what malware it installs because it comes from a malware pool that the Project64 creator claims is maintained by an advertising website. This can only be skipped by running the executable with the parameter "/noads".

Please note however the latest version of the emulator is bundled with optional "toolbars and smilies" software. Do not install it. It is most likely adware/spyware. Make sure you unselect them when installing the emulator.
