Have been with this carrier since they were in beta (more than five years ago now). Everything they claimed in the advertising has been true; I've gotten unlimited everything with no contracts for about $20/mo, all in. To me, the best thing about the carrier is the ability to make *true* WiFi calls to other phone numbers. Sure, it can be done with Skype or other services; I don't want (or need) another bill or another app to run. Here, it's built into the system. Cell coverage areas in Los Angeles have been on par with other family members who're with Verizon and AT & T. The only difference to me: They each pay $2,400/yr for AT &T; I pay about $250. WiFi calling has been *excellent*. I can't remember a time when a WiFi call was dropped or sub-par. When I first got Republic, many people even comment that, "This is the best sounding cell call I've ever heard." My two complaints: no phone support. No hand-off between cell and WiFi or WiFi and cell, so if you leave an area with WiFi coverage, you need to hang up and reinitiate the call.

Not the worst service provider. The phones are really outdated and 3g can be spotty at times. Rather go back to Virgin Mobile.

While they're trying to offer a "good green product", it's really not so great. I can do the same thing their phones do with an ipod touch, a portable mifi (3g speeds), and a pinger textfree app, it's almost the same exact thing. They make claims that aren't true- with these apps that you'd have to pay overages, etc, but not any more than with this company, if at all. I've never paid a single overage fee, minutes are prepaid, & unlimited texting. Where I live we have really good wifi, but wifi phone calls are terrible at best, the more people logged on, the less signal available, plus they tend to randomly cut out. 3g internet phone calls aren't much better. If you want more reliable cellular phone service, stick with a regular cell phone.
