"All files are original, not repacked or modified in any way by us. Secure downloads are files hosted and checked by Softpedia."
YES. GOOD. I hate sites that have those stupid downloader adware applications.
now Spyware most is ok but look out?

MalWhere is bundled with third party software. Tested version was bundled with WhenU adware, which consisted of WhenUSearch Toolbar and Clock-Sync time synchronize

It's an excellent site of software reviews, downloads and news. You must be cautious with children because of the news section that may include some videos/images not suitable for children. "
im software geek & enjoy using a-lot of software.
i have bean using softpedia for years, in the past it have bean bang on in describing a software & making sure they ware clean
and i have only encountered 1 software that i got from softpedia that head an especially nasty Malware in it.
how ever, recently i was looking for a 2-way firewall .
=== NOT AN INTERNET SECURITY PACKAGE ===
and stumbled upon "COMODO Firewall".
as it turned out not only it is NOT a stand alone Firewall like
its described, and may Mislead anyone reading software title, but it contained a nasty Malware! (called Geek-Buddy!)
for a site that reputable, which claims 100% malware free
that's was strike TOW & THREE!
so,
goodby SOFTPEDIA
hello again SNAPFILES.com
and im back to snapfiles.com
Softpedia was the only alternative for free downloads when I was younger, recommended for their straight forward download services and quite fast. I like them since they do actually check the files, I reckon this warrants a disclaimer; still scan your files, you may just come across malware or adware.
Be careful with files downloaded.
Ensure you read carefully the installers because some include malware or unwanted programs typically added when you click 'Accept'.
Pros:
- A good place to download freeware, shareware or trial.
- No wrapped installer from this site.
Cons:
- Some information of software will outdated or behind software sites.
- Some software maybe include offered installer, but it's not fault from Softpedia, maybe you can blame the developers who put that things in.
Other:
- I didn't try the "Download bucket" function.
Not to be confused with that fake site www.s0ftpedia.org which mimics www.softpedia.com , so a phishing , a scam and a big booby-traps, which downloads on your computer a waste (malware, viruses, trojans ...) ! I wanted to warn you.
This website is a waste of time. They are like CNET, they don't create software but they try and make it easily accessible. However, rather than just having you download the programs that other people have created, they force you to download their own special "softpedia downloader", which then attempts to install several other pieces of software that you have to be careful and check "I don't want to download this" It's not worth the hassle, you can easily google any of the programs on this site and find somewhere else to download it from.
I hdan't been on Softpedia in a while and I was pleasantly surprised that it warned users when programs came with junk.
I also was not pleased with the blockier new layout, trendy colors and boring icons. I figured that they were dumbing it down for mobile- but when actually the quality of the information had improved. That also was a pleasant surprise.
Lastly, I did read a number of reviews saying that the ads looked too much like the programs. That is assuming that users allow such ads in the first place...
Your solution to that problem is stop running browsers like stinky Internet Explorer and Spammy Chrome. Run Palemoon with extensions like NoScript and Request Policy and truly clean pages are possible.
