Every thing submitted through turnitin becomes the property of the company. Your essays, stories, etc. now belong to them. Normally not an issue for secondary students, but for post-secondary, if you have issue with this please approach your professor/TA/relevant authority figure.

This site makes a profit with a database containing papers submitted by students. These papers are the students' intellectual property, but by "agreeing" to the terms of service they give a copyright waiver to iParadigms, LLC, the company running the site. The reason why I put "agree" in quotation marks is because the students most often have no actual choice in the matter, as they must either submit assignments to ***** or receive a Zero for the assignment. Public schools, sponsored by the government, are forcing students to give a COMMERCIAL ENTITY using a completely PROPRIETARY SYSTEM with zero transparency a full waiver for the copyrights on their intellectual property to do with it what they please for profit on threat of failure of the assignment and possibly failure of the course. This has been taken to court in the United States, and the case was dismissed, a failure of the justice system.

Virus-free website but i hate having to upload each and every single essay that i do onto the website. My english teacher won't mark any essay that hasn't been uploaded on to this site. I guess teachers don't really on their "reliable" sense of plagerism detection anymore. I agree with Branko Rakocevic :)
