This is yet another site that mostly attempt to place a stealth charge on the unsuspecting mark's credit card by charging to cancel a "free" trial subscription or by automatically charging for a subscription. Another common tactic is to offer a certain book or movie as being available yet, upon buying a "subscription", such is not available. Very untrustworthy.

I was bounced from what I believe is a legitimate free-ebook site (https://openlibrary.org/) to a the apparently phony download site urbooklibrary.com that asks for credit card info for "verification" of “location” (ostensibly to determine whether the downloading applicant is located in a country that has the proper copyright licensing arrangements). The information is requested by way of what I suppose you’d call a pop-up page, and seemed to have somehow picked up the title of the book I was trying to download. It appeared legitimate to me at the time, but in actuality it did not lead to a download possibility for the book I’d originally been interested in. The urlibrary pages proffer assurances of legitimacy and, and it is claimed no fees will be charged to one’s credit card. But in hindsight I seriously doubt the reassurance means anything. The site is online-game and entertainment oriented. This site, urbooklibrary.com, is a shady operation. I feel that giving (as I did) my Mastercard info to the people running that site puts my credit-card account in jeopardy. Though I don’t have experience or evidence at this point that the people running it are swindling people, fraud and perhaps even theft shouldn’t be ruled out with these people.
