Anybody who tried to use it to spread spam or malware would be quickly found and banned so it's most likely that false reports by people hostile to torrent sites are to blame for this false rating here. ***** Don't forget, people, that hpHosts is particularly susceptible to false positives because they trust third party sources and do no investigations or verifications of any kind. Just mass-posting from there to here without any attempts to check the facts is doing WOT and hpHosts more harm than good because it weakens trust in both of these enterprises.
