Scott Turow, the current president of The Author's Guild, has been spouting nonsense concerning the new world of publishing. As outlined in the below Techdirt link (and in many other articles), Turow isn't above misrepresenting reality to make his points.
Now, if Turow wants to spout nonsense, I can dig that. Welcome to America. The real complaint is that The Author's Guild blog has taken to turning off the comments on Turow's obnoxious and misleading blog posts in order to stifle debate. This is a form of censorship that runs counter to the spirit of The Author's Guild, an organization made up of members who make their living with words and ideas.
