PTC ("Paid To Click") site which generates fake web traffic. Members click to get paid and not because they have a natural, autonomous interest in what they click. Therefore the traffic they generate by clicking is fake traffic, not organic traffic. One purpose of fake traffic is to artificially inflate search engine rank for customer sites. Another purpose of fake traffic is to waste PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising funds for competitors' sites. Search engines give higher rank to pages which are visited from many IP addresses (distribution) and pages which are viewed for a longer period of time (timing). Therefore, PTC sites use scripts which regulate the distribution and timing (often called PTR or "Paid To Read") of fake traffic to give it the appearance of organic traffic, thereby gaming the search engines. PTC sites regularly promote businesses which are unethical or outright scams, and help to pollute search results with unwanted dross.
