The exaggerated descriptions of the threat to the system are juxtaposed with ads for a free download that will scan your computer. The pages of description of the removal process are complicated nonsense -- probably written to discourage people from trying to fix the matter themselves and break down and download the program offered on the site.

The site owner is an individual from Calcutta who spammed the McAfee Community forums by registering under multiple user names to promote one of his websites (pcthreatremoval.net). He was foolish enough to sign up using the same email address that he used to register the site that he was spamming. A WhoIs search will give you more details if you want to find out what else he's involved with. He has set up a number of other websites most of which seem to exist in order to push a product called SpyHunter. The proliferation of these websites makes it unlikely their main raison d'etre is to offer serious advice on malware prevention or removal. This site is running under an outdated version of WordPress (3.6.1; latest is 3.7.1) which makes it vulnerable to hacking.
