CoreyTodds, contrary to your claim that demandbase does not even use cookies, it just tried to drop a cookie on me via a page on ***** (an otherwise reputable software developer.) Ghostery marks it as being Beacons/Analytics
Avery labels uses this site for Surveys. Malware Bytes picked up a script vulnerability that was being exploited and used to distribute a PUP program, and also another dropper used to download and install malware at a future point. After scanning their site(Sucuri.net), they have older, unpatched Apache 2.2 HTTPD server running on a Redhat variant, which also has not been patched as frequently as I would have liked to see by a company that does this type of business. Not quite Malvertising, but a site that could be used to exploit people's browsers and install PUP/Adware and Malware, unknowingly to the users.
The company facilitates B2B marketing. There is nothing unethical or related to child safety about it. My experience with them has been positive. They provide free webinars on marketing topics.
***** commits to its customers to do "real-time targeting and personalization" on us users, Its products are "geared specifically to enable B2B marketers to make online interactions more effective" for the marketers. Reference: their marketing materials and the Description blurb posted above in the sidebar. Their words, "real-time targeting and personalization" are words that seem to promise delivering specific information on us to their customers, and ***** surely has no intention of constraining the customers' uses of our data. I am more likely to place a degree of confidence in the evaluations by TRUSTe and hpHosts than in comments by individuals who may express sincerely held beliefs, but may also (or, instead) be defending out of self-interest these industry practices.
The comments have nothing to do with the actual business or business model for the San Francisco based company "Demandbase Inc." Demandbase is actually a well-respected marketing technology company that services Fortune 5000 companies. Ironically, Demandbase technology uses no cookies or spyware, as their technology is based upon Business ID without privacy invading technologies (eg, no cookies). These reviews aren't even on the right company, or the reviewers are just mistaken. Look it up!
