I don't use the applications cuz I hate them, but they're really big on security these days. I logged in from another country the other day (Germany), and I had to prove that it was really me. Wow.
Effective product for communicating and keeping up to date with friends, and "HTTPS Always" option is a huge bonus, but distinct lack of transparency when dealing with privacy settings and there is a lack of effort in ensuring children or other vulnerable people aren't able to connect with people they shouldn't.
Pub ciblées, Installation d'applis qui publie en votre nom etc... Bref, C'est un réseau social, mais pas de sécurité, que ce soit dans le respect de la vie privée et/ou la protection des mineurs...
A sexually explicit video appeared in the Facebook news feed of my friend's 14yo daughter. The video was posted on the following Facebook Page (not a profile, but page), which, when visited, contained nothing but pornographic images, including a child porn video:
