Another thing is they have a team of people and software that goes through people's profiles and tailors adverts based on the contents of a users wall/timeline.

Overall facebook is a good, entertaining site, however one must remember that facebooks priority is to their customers. Facebook is an advertising company, they take your information and both use it to generate personality profiles about you, and directly sell your information to third parties. You are their product, NOT their customer. For this reason they score midway on truthworthyness and poorly on privacy. They also do not have well established protocols to ensure under 18s are kept safe on the site which gives them a poor rating for child safety. Overall, a great site for those over 18, so long as you're conscious of what is actually being done with your data.
