There are always viruses traveling through Facebook and through messages.There is lots of spam mail. There are lots of bugs when using the applications. It has lots of glitches that allows users to hack into accounts. There is a lot of phishing especially when sent through messages. Users who have viruses on their computers can easily transfer virus from their computer to Facebook allowing viruses to travel the Internet. This is creating Facebook a malicious site. But I still like it. Its a great way to socialize with others.

on my 3rd day in Facebook; in my opinion it seems dangerous to me .Took many friends of friends that ask to be your friend. They could be anybody.

facebook does have privacy issues with the google search when you type in your name,your facebook page shows up,not good.

Be careful about privacy settings, everything defaults to being public!

The new Facebook privacy settings are an excellent step forward. I still would not recommend the site for children, however, because there are a lot of potential viruses by third-party apps and groups - some misleading advertisement as well. Overall I have never had any trouble with Facebook privacy or spamming.

In terms of child safety, its both a danger in terms of adult content and potential for harm.
