follows.comは安全ですか？

I site like www.follows.com that sells followers is despicable. The person buying followers is worse than despicable. I follow people because we are like-minded or have something in common that we could discuss. i.e. Evolution, Atheism, Christianity, Religion, the Bible, star formation, the universe, The big bang...etc. What's the benefit of having 1000s of followers that you have nothing in common with? or am I out of it? I will follow anyone as stated above if they have 1 follower or 1000s. I just don't get it. I have been following people if they follow at least 100 people that I follow. I'm going to stop that as I'm not getting many people I have something in common with.
