I was actually aboard this vessel(Frying Pan) many times during the summer of 1990. I worked security for World Yacht/New York Cruise Lines on pier 63, prior to the enormous renovation and evolution of what is now "Chelsea Piers".At the time (1990),"Frying Pan" was privately owned and used as a Night club actually docked on the south side of pier 62, it was accessible via the main gate of pier 63.The below deck, bow area dance room, made for incredible (oil drum) bass sound, due to the vessels metal hull. A new idea, and unique venue, it became very popular, very fast, attracting the attention of many "Nightclub Celebrities" as well as the FDNY/NYPD, resulting in the party's cessation. Though a short chapter in the ongoing story of this historic vessel, I feel fortunate to have taken part. "Thanks for the memories Frying Pan!"
