GoDaddy has LONG been one of the sleazier joints in the internet, from making it impossible to transfer one's domain elsewhere ( being held hostage, in other words ), to offering .CO instead of .COM, and charging $29 or so for the privelege, to supporting SOPA, etc...

You read some of those, and understand WHAT you choose to deal-with...
Try, for low-bandwidth sites Dreamhost ( worker-owned ), or for higher-hit sites, 1and1 or Rackspace ( search both on Slashdot: Rackspace charges $3000 or so to stop a DDoS in-progress, iirc, if your site has been hit by a site-ransom demand ).
Anyways, you nearly can't do worse than GoDaddy, for a "partner", from what I've seen in the screaming of others, and what I nearly got suckered-into.

Domain registrations and hosting services.

Not a bad place to go for hosting, especially if you're a smaller web owner. The servers were not up to par for me in terms of speed, but they seem reliable for small sites.
The best thing I can say about Godaddy is that customer service is generally very helpful, and always available.

Worst hosting/domain service I have ever used. Hidden conditions, false pricing, grossly unreliable and just plain horrendous customer service. Save yourself time and money and use ANY other company for domains or hosting.

Their pricing scheme is so heavy handed. Its popular because its popular, not because its good, fair, or strong value. Everything is an add on with them, and they pretend they have inexpensive prices.

Nearly every recent scam phone number I looked up had has a website hosted by this company. They seem to be a favourite with internet criminals.
