Google's customers are advertisers, the product is our information. Products getting worse and worse about bad privacy settings by default (see Chrome accepting any and all cookies) and keeping you signed in after using any web app.

I've used google since it started. It has flaws but always finds te sites you need..

safesearch and google images are a joke. There is at least 3 ways to search for images.
With proxy files, host files and K9 software, and pointing to a alternate DNS like OpenDns or Norton Dns you can get google images to show only 1 page of thumbnails. You can view thumbnails of images that safesearch should have blocked but doesnt. Google knows about this and does nothing. They get someone from Google to say "Thank, we'll look into it". They've been saying that for a couple of years now. I gave up, I use Bing now. For those rare times I need to get to google, I turn off the proxy file in firefox and disable WOT.
