Very useful indeed, it's one of the best search engines, however there may be privacy issues. Google's core business is advertising but they also offer a lot of other services such as web-mail, maps etc. The amount of knowledge they have about you is enormous. Abuse is very well possible. Following their philosophy, they are doing you a great favor by offering you personalized advertising based on all the data they harvested about you, so it's not clear what their ethical standards are and how to interpret "Do No Evil".
