One of the best sites to learn about vulnerabilities on sites through HTML and Javascript. However, I haven't ever seen anyone using techniques quite as simple as the ones in the basic challenges, the realistic application sites are amazingly informative and useful. Not necessarily a hacker training ground as much as it is a Javascript playground. However if you must refer to it as a hacking site, the technical term for it is call a Wargame. Wargames are utilized by security specialists everywhere to sharpen and hone their skills. Worth looking at.
