This site is pretty safe, technically. However, it wastes a MASSIVE amount of people's time by being p**s-poorly managed, information-wise. All it would take is putting some sort of a flag on the HUGE number of articles that contain 100% OUT OF DATE INFORMATION... Flagging 100%-USELESS LONG-DELETED LINKS with a: "This software is completely deleted from existence". Or something. Right now, all the above is true - except one has to do the damn detective work oneself to find out that one is back to square one! Instead of support - just a bunch of time-wasting CRAP. ***** - and this is the 'official' site. ***** Forums are NOT a substitute for proper documentation, idiots! Canonical don't even invest in proper documentation - or maintenance of that documentation - with that money they got from stealing people's private search data and selling it to Amazon . Cost-benefit of proper documentation, static/semi-static content is WELL WORTH-IT. Cost-benefit of p*ssing users off and losing their trust - then not even justifying it with decent documentation management, well that's not on, Canonical. offtopic: I'm still a Linux / Ubuntu noob, due to the RTFM paradigm being broken by there BEING no F'ing Manual most of the time - or it being obtusely-written, written making stupid assumptions about arcane technical knowledge of whatever random user is reading it etc. I'd be literally 10x more knowledgeable if the information was there and in an efficient format... and yet I'm STILL trying, as Micro$haft are nearly the same. /offtopic This site is part of a rotten paradigm, unfortunately.
