LibraryThing is a social site devoted mainly to the cataloging of users' books. Users tend to be intelligent, bookish, and capable of expressing themselves well and courteously. Discussions can range beyond book-related topics, but I have found them to be among the most thoughtful and constructive to be found anywhere online. People from throughout the English-speaking world are represented, and many indulge in dry wit. Young children will not "get" the site, for the most part, but exposure to it is liable to pique their curiosity about reading and to improve their vocabulary. The site is not censored, but the risk of exposure to indecent material is very low. Creepy people would rather be somewhere else.
