No idea how a calendar of events for Cabrillo College got a bad review from WOT. I hope someone there checks this out periodically. No idea why it was regarded as not popular. I found the info useful and correct, as far as I checked.
localendar support here: Thanks to everyone who has entered a Good comment to support the site. We have been around for 11+ years providing calendaring services and are most definitely not a phishing or scam site.
The "localendar.com/public/bigass" mentioned on that 2009 malware report is a member-created calendar that was promptly removed. All of our content is user-generated. As with any web publishing site (calendars, blogs, forums, etc) there is always a risk a member will post bad links, etc. We try to police this information as diligently as possible. Nevertheless, we recommend a good AV program, OpenDNS, etc to be completely secure.
Seems those who down-rated localendar either have never visited the site (relying on another blacklisted site for the information), have a competing website (ie, another calendar site, hence they are down-rating it to make theirs look good), have no clue about how/where they got their malware, or it was a link posted on someone's calendar that contained a malware link. I have used this site for YEARS, and NEVER have had a problem. Then again, I also use Adblock Plus on Firefox, and MOST malware never gets thru anyhow.
This is a calendar site. If you allow others to post to your calendar I guess it is possible for bad things to happen. I have used this site for more than 4 years and am the only person who can post to it. Very surprised at the bad rating.
This is a calender for a school. Any bad content others have experienced (which I have not) is due to external sponsors/advertisers of ***** who runs the service, and is NOT associated with the school itself.
Blacklisted as a website that contains malware and could potentially infect your system, according to Malwaredomainlist.
See: ***** for the full list or ***** for more information.
We've been using this site for our church's web calendar for a couple of years now and have never had a problem. It may be that other users have included malicious links, but that shouldn't affect the rating of this site so much.
A very reputable site I frequently access has a link to this calendar. I clicked on that link and WOT prevented me from accessing the calendar site.
I read the postings from other WOT users. I was reticent about overriding the WOT warning, but did so anyhow.
MalwareBytes, SpyBot, Defender, McAfee, and Norton have never found any issues on my computer since I first accessed this localendar site.
If I ever get a stinger from this website I will respost and tag the calendar with a SHAME to let you know...
Cheers, Bobby
Calendaring site -- maybe some calendars have poor content. The one entry in malware domain was from 2009 on one of their "public" calendars. The do have a privacy policy, but I could not easily find their terms of service, so it may be possible to create a "public" calendar and place questionable content on it. If you know the organization that is maintaining the calendar you are going to view, you are probably OK, otherwise you may get malware of NSFW or NSFC content.
I use NoScript and WOT and have no problems with this site whatsoever. I've used it happily for more than 3 yrs and am very surprised to see this WOT warning suddenly appear.
