TM has passed the tests that show psychological improvements in practitioners. Also, the scientific method serves to weed out idiosyncrasies that will happen to people at random. If out of 1000 people who start a diet of yogurt and celery, 3 get cancer, does that means you should never eat yogurt and celery together? Would those three get cancer anyway? (Pobably yes, given the incidence of cancer in our population). Common sense says "check it out in a group test". That's what science does. TM has passed the science test. I'm not sure the TM ex people pass that test when it comes to labeling TM a "cult". The definition of "cult" includes prohibitions on members to examine critically their organization. Maharishi is the first to say "examine TM for what it offers or doesn't offer you personally. Examine it scientifically." Flame on, TMexers. The truth is available.
