Netgear makes networking hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and various other components for the consumer market. They have also branched out into the business and enterprise market. Products are decent quality, and much more affordable than the high-end brands, but user interfaces are mediocre, and tech support quality is not very good. A good brand to choose if you're on a budget and don't need a lot of hand-holding. Site is trustworthy, though confusing sometimes. Vendor reliability is ok, but dinged a bit for their relatively poor tech support. Privacy is fine, SSL is used, minimal collection of PII, and they don't spam you if you give them your email. Child safety is perfectly fine, nothing remotely objectionable.
