This site has a poor WOT rating. I wonder why. In my experience this site has no problems. No pop ups, or mysterious and malicious links. Regarding child friendliness, its good too.
This is a great site for indie musicians and I have no idea why it's rated poorly. Also... popups? I've seen none on it even with AdBlock Plus turned off.
I have Never had any problems or issues with this site, however I DID happen to notice that the bad ratings started to appear just after a lot of people got upset at each other on there and a lot said they weren't coming back, etc, and I was getting a lot of e-mails from there with people disagreeing, arguing etc at the time I was working too much to have time to visit or keep up good though, but sometime after May ***** or so people started reporting it as bad for spite, (in my honest opinion) later I even stopped going for while just after I had won a top 10 site award there for my song, because W.O.T was showing it as bad... But later I was thinking about it and I figured out what I (think) happened, people rating it as bad out of spite, (I think, not sure but it seemed that way).
I visited the site just now(after I saw it in a search for myself ) and I went to several pages, and not a single pop up, not one , I am using Firefox 15 and it says popup blocked it a site tries to launch a pop up window.
I have never had ANY problems with ***** and after thinking abouit it and wanting to be fair, and feeling a bit guity for deserting it because of it's bad rating here some time ago, I took the time to come hetre and rate it truthfully, based on My experiences there.
There is nothing wrong with this site. It's a well known site among musicians looking for a way to get their music to the masses. I just starting using WOT and I really have to wonder when one of the first alerts it gives me is from OurStage. I know that it's user controlled but then the question is.... What's wrong with the users?
This site has an excellent reputation. Please ignore the negative comments and ratings. This site is a website for bands and artists to submit songs and win prizes in contests that the public votes on. MTV is a major affiliate and AOL is as well. It's been around for years and I've been a member since the beginning. Membership is free.
Current:
Supposedly they removed their old issues. However...
There's a crap ton of fake comments! Users with 0-10 reviews under their belt.
It's a shame, because I would have given this comment an "other" category and bumped your rating up to 4 yellows.
For any potential customers' and your sake, I hope you'll consider changing your business practices.

POPUNDERS!!!

Yeah, this site isn't really well written...
At all.

Um, pardon me, but "typical" frequency response doesn't cut it for me.
Graph>Wall of text.
"Frequency Range: 12-24,000 Hz
Sensitivity: 106 dB"
Doesn't mean anything to me.
***** has long been established as a community for independent musicians. There's no reasonable call for such a poor rating. Apparently, people have been rating it poorly because it is advertised as a pop-up from other sites.
I have turned off all my pop-up blockers, ad-blockers, and script disablers and scoured this site from top to bottom and found nothing that represents all the negative votes here. I recommend people actually visit the site before voting, as this looks like a case to me of someone saw the red circle, and immediately voted it bad themselves without giving the site a try.
OurStage is great for independent music, but they also have an awesome blog/magazine that posts tons of original content all week. They cover every genre and some of the posts are pretty funny. I love reading it and have even gotten into other genres from some of their columns. Can't wait to see more!
I have been a Contest Judge here for years and I don't know what all the problems people are having but I don't. I am also a software developer and programmer with all the Anti-virus and other such software installed and I get no sort of warnings..
This site is fine - really good actually. Like others have said, it's a website for musicians and singers who want to get heard and seen. I've had no pop-ups or pop-unders ever while on this site. Email communications have been fine: good customer support and no spam.
Somehow I feel this site is framed. It seems to be in association with MTV, and I doubt MTV would associate itself with a malicious site. It's just for new music groups. It has pop-ups, but they're just promoting themselves.
This is an entertaining site with an incredible pool of young and not so young talent from all over the world, showcasing their skills and musical masterpieces. That said, I use a popup blocker, an anti-virus scanning my Web activities at all times and have never had any problems with this site.
I've also noticed one of my friends page (a participating musician) that was compromised recently. I was informed (thanks to Firefox and Google's preemptive warning system) before the page was loaded. I was also subsequently satisfied with the speedy removal of said malware.
It's the Internet, this will happen from time to time (even to the best of them).
In conclusion and IMHO, I can attest that it is a very entertaining site if you're into discovering new talent and music, and take care to browse safely.
I only recently started visiting this site, but find it entertaining and informative.I had 1 purchase fail to download, and they promptly corrected the problem.I, also, fail to understand the negative comments about this site.If you like many varied types of music, you MUST check this one out
