I can't say I've had a good experience here. Every single one of my accounts has been banned because Jagex refuses to offer a good customer service experience for playing their game. F2p is far too limited, Jagex has their head up their ass and refuses to let me speak to an actual human regarding my infractions, instead has a bullshit ticket system where they always "win" and you never get your account back. I refuse to keep flushing $$$ down the toilet for this horrible company that has no customer service but still expects $14 a month for membership. You can't even select a different option from two options, forcing you into a false choice while they'll just refuse to read your response and issue a boiler plate template response denying your appeal. I get more genuine action at a bar or a Walmart than Jagex's own appeal system. It doesn't matter whether you defeated Jad, have a fire cape, or 99 in a skill, there will come a day where your account will be banned. EDIT: Another account of mine bites the dust because Jagex's NON-EXISTENT customer service, inability to LISTEN TO THEIR ACTIVE PLAYERS.

User-to-user interaction cannot be fairly rated for an MMORPG like Runescape. However, the website/game contains no malicious software. Additionally, the game hosted on www.runescape.com has no graphic or shocking content - unless of course you include player-to-player interaction.

Great game, they have many features to prevent your information from being stolen. As far as the gameplay itself, there is possibility for harassment and questionable content from other players, as some people tend to be. But beside that, all the content is child friendly and safe.

Welcome to Runescape, a game that is overseen by a "bot watch" system that Jagex developers claim to be infallible. Got banned by said bot watch? Never fear, you can always submit an appeal for your ban! Just don't expect a response from their staff any time soon for, say, the next two decades or so. This is the game you are considering to play. I was a victim of this "bot watch" system they have, that rendered my veteran and long-time member account a permanent ban. I always spoke with friends while playing for ludicrously long hours, and yet, their system still thought I was a bot and banned me anyways. Of course, I submitted an appeal SIX MONTHS AGO, but with no response. Not a peep. It just shows up as "Pending" to date. This is how they repay devoted and loyal players that have been with them since near their inception. Based on the pompous claims of a "perfect" bot watch system that they like to make, it's pretty clear what's going on here. They don't even dare to read or respond to the appeals that result from it because they cannot admit that it can make a mistake, or they will have spent only heavens knows how much of players' investments into a flawed system. Someone in their team is just trying to cover their behind, at the expense of the innocent victims of this system. I have long since given up waiting for a response at this point and would just like this to serve as a warning to the many prospective players out there looking for a game to play. Don't count on this being "the game" that you learn to love, for it will eventually come and stab you in the back when you're at your prime.

Be wary of their bot detection system--it can ban you randomly out of the blue, even if you never botted. The Jagex staff claim that their bot system is perfect and will never falsely ban; however, as a victim of one of these bans, I can positively affirm that such a claim is a lie. Nothing is perfect or infallible. I was a veteran player for nearly 10 years, a paying member and a clan owner. I played for around 12 hours a day training crafting while multi-tasking on projects in real life, when one day I couldn't log in anymore. I appealed. Never received a response after over a month. I've given up on ever hearing from their Staff and have decided to quit on my own terms--by removing my contact information from their mailing list and warning all future prospective gamers of this issue. You can be a veteran. You can be a member. You can be completely legit. And you can still get permanently banned. The malware/viruses I speak of are from their third-party sites you can participate in to receive free Runecoins, treasure chest keys and the likes. It's clear that they don't really give a damn about their customers by permitting those kinds of snakes to access their customers, collect personal information and the likes. Over time, the purpose of Runescape has devolved from making a fun game for everyone to milking out as much cash as possible from unsuspecting players. I wouldn't bother with this game: it's not worth it.

I gotta say I've become very impressed with how much the security of RuneScape has improved the 10 years I've been a member. Paid membership is secure. As far as child safety goes, parents need to take responsibility by setting the parental control settings such as turning swear word censors on! Do not blame runescape for your irresponisbility and failure to customize controls! RuneScape now has extra security settings beyond security questions you can set up by email. Since the new system I have not been hacked or spammed. Just like RuneScape says in the disclaimer, RuneScape will never instant message you nor email you asking for account information, failure to obey that disclaimer is not RuneScapes fault and is in fact your own. So overall, RuneScape is secure and it's Child Friendly, but it is up to you to make sure that happens!

one of the first MMORPG games out there most of the players who play it like it because its kind of "Old School" style which there isn't so many of them now days.. about children in the young age.. look out for them not to spend TOO much time on the game :)

I have played Runescape for years and it has treated me well. My only iffy is the community for the, immaturity you might see, so I would hide chat altogether if you want to avoid it. Other than that, you will enjoy yourself if you are a fan of the MMORPG market.

great game ive read comments on the jagex folder yes it puts a jagex folder on your computers cache its A VIDEO GAME! the files it puts on your computer communicates back to game your game settings and favorite worlds. it also communicates system specs when using the autoconfig in game to select best configuration to run. no viruses no phishing no scams. they warn about phishing emails and how to tell if its them or not. their payment center is not bad. ive been a paid member for over 7 years. and is completely safe.

This is a very good website. Great game, nice graphics, safe MMORPG, people are nice, Jagex payments are secure, good overall. This site uses Java for the game, though. They also add files to your computer, but it's only to make the game faster. This site has no viruses and no pop-ups. Now, in recent times on Runescape, there have been more hackers and a few trolls. Just remember to keep your account safe and to change your password so you won't fall victim to attacks by these people. I've been an avid player of Runescape since I was a fifth grader in 2007. This site is excellent and I have had no problems with it.
