TLG ID Protect (called Privacy Guard on the website) is a service I use to monitor my credit score and have been using for years. I can't speak to their other products (and buyer beware, as always) but this company is definitely real even if their methods can be sketchy.

They steal money. Kind of an important detail for me to miss.
They had me make a $200 deposit on a Dish Network DVR.
Dish Network told me they don't ask for deposits, so...
Where did that money go?
No, they aren't "borderline" criminals.
They are, in fact, criminals!

Trilegiant is one of those "marketing" companies that make their living by signing people up for obscure, worthless "services" through underhanded means. One step away from being straight-up criminals.
