This union claims that it's about promoting science and critical thinking yet is somehow going against the scientific consensus on topics like biotechnology. As with climate change and evolution this is not a scientifically controversial subject. Only some details of biotechnology are open to debate while other topics like labeling are strictly political issues. This is in line with the kind of ideological bias the union has had over its history. [1] "UCS hates science more than they love people. Genetically modified foods have yet to cause even a single stomachache while mutagenesis has greater risk of producing an unforeseen detrimental effect than any other breeding technique. Crops grown with chemical and/or radiation Mutant breeding is the method most likely to produce unintended consequences. There are thousands of these varieties, unregulated, untested for safety, and they are certified organic. Why don't they label it, why don't they suggest labeling it? What is the UCS hiding,lol. How does UCS reconcile the fact that they support the scientific consensus on climate change, but turn their backs on these same institutions when it comes to gmo? Or how do they reconcile the inconsistency in thinking of opposing biotechnology in agriculture while giving Mutation Breeding the free pass? Why are the most scientifically studied crops in the world such a concern while the right to know crowd remains the least informed about Mutation breeding? Mutation breeding undermines the anti gmo ideology, and they have to ignore this. UCS, just like the anti gmo movement, is silent about Mutation breeding. As much as their work lacks integrity and clings to ideology they stand to boost the profits of the organic industry. Their concern for GMO's while ignoring Mutation breeding unveals either a sickening deception or a willfully ignorant delusion... pick one.

Privacy policy in place, safe for computers. Seems to have an agenda, though I agree with most of it e.g. global warming, climate change. My concern is about the lack of source citations in articles which makes this website more difficult to use than I would expect given its purpose of environmental education and advocacy. (I am NOT referring to the global warming articles per se!)

When the Titanic sunk in 1912 news stated the world is getting colder. When the dust bowl years started in 1930 the news stated the world is getting hotter. Most of us can remember in the 70s when the world was gonna freeze. And here we go again the world is getting hotter. Gloom gloom doom doom. Well I ain't buying it. The whole global warming argument is a syllogism. 1. Man pollutes with co2. 2. Earth gets hotter with more co2. 3. Man must cause global warming. OH no this must be true too: Worms are animals Socrates is an animal Therefore Socrates is a worm
