Why does YouTube, with all its annoyances and a monopolistic acquisition on the part of Google (which in turn, eliminated the Google Video service), have all the marketing and media coverage. Vimeo benefits from a much better interface, a more efficient video player (on my exact same Internet connection, clocking at 2mbps, Vimeo briskly loads high-definition videos once you pause them, while YouTube sometimes barely loads at all), a very good image and sound quality most of the time, and more focused, creative and artistic communities. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
