There is a very real difference between a "web bug" and a tracking cookie used to link to tracking or advertisers. People on here need to be more certain that the problems they report are actually true threats. In fact, a lot of sites have as part of the Terms of Service an understanding that the user will allow tracking of their preferences through cookies, mostly for the purpose of maintaining site preferences the way the user likes them (such as how the pages of a site are displayed).
