Its original goals were laudable, to decentralize knowledge, but over the years it has gradually become a poor source of untainted information. A large number of pages are written by a select few super-editors who have their own biases, the sources used are often from publications with dubious records, and instead of it being a decentralized collection of useful information, it has become yet another technological tool for politicians and corporations to control information and cast out/dismiss dissenters. Guess teachers were right in saying not to use Wikipedia as a source after all!
