How trustworthy is that site? New "Web of Trust" extension for Opera knows

If you have ever wanted a trusted guide to help navigate the twists and turns of the Web, look no further than the Web of Trust (WOT) extension. WOT is an extension available for Opera 11, the newest browser from Opera Software. Download WOT from https://addons.opera.com/

WOT protects you in two ways. With each site you visit, clicking the WOT icon next to the search field displays the trustworthiness, vendor reliability, privacy protection and child safety of the site, as determined by a global community of more than 17 million WOT users. As an added level of protection, the WOT icon is displayed in search results, Wikipedia links and links in other popular sites to determine the trustworthiness of sites before you visit them.

“WOT brings transparency to the Web and makes it more difficult for unscrupulous site owners to operate,” said Vesa Perälä, CEO of WOT. “For example, the WOT community is better at detecting scam sites than automated systems alone, because it requires input from real consumers to identify bad customer service. We are pleased to make the WOT extension available as another line of defense for Opera users.”

"Browsing the Web with the Web of Trust extension gives a completely different sense of security," said Christen Krogh, Chief Development Officer, Opera. "Instead of browsing alone, you have millions of people helping point out what sites are trustworthy, are safe for your children, and respect your privacy. No matter how you use the Web, Web of Trust is an essential tool to browse safely in today's sometimes uncertain environment."
