Should be avoided like the plague, spyware toolbar. Remove it immediately!
It promotes its toolbars on sites targeted at kids.
It promotes its toolbars through ads that appear to be part of other companies' sites.
It promotes its toolbars through other companies' spyware.
It is installed without any disclosure whatsoever and without any consent from the user whatsoever.
It solicits installations via "deceptive door openers" that do not accurately describe the offer; failing to affirmatively show a license agreement; linking to a EULA via an off-screen link.
It makes confusing changes to user's browsers -- increasing Ask's revenues while taking users to pages they didn't intend to visit.
Mit aggressivem Aufdrängen macht man sich nicht sonderlich beliebt. Hierzu zählen Bettler, Hausierer, Zeugen Jehovas und Ask_dot_com.
Zum Mitschreiben: Ich will keine Toolbar! Ich wollte sie noch nie, und werde sie auch in Zukunft niemals wollen. Auch die gefühlt 1000ste Anfrage wird daran nichts ändern. Tante Google kommt doch auch ohne Toolbar aus.
When trying to use ask.com it keeps me clicking by taking the computer to list after list of sites. I understand they do this because they get paid $.40 cents per click.
It's time consuming and annoying.
Ask Toolbar hijacks all of your browsers after coercing you to enable it. Even after uninstalling it, its browser hijacking mechanism, helper objects, hooks, configuration changes, etc. remain in place.
Also, search results show no difference between ads and actual results, and often the whole first page of your results is all ad links. STAY WELL AWAY FROM ASK!
The search engine is ok, however they offer PUP (potentially unwanted programs) that change your browser's homepage and search engine. When you're installing a program don't just click "Next", see if they offer you stuff like "Set your homepage to Ask.com" or "Set your search engine to Ask.com".
