Based on MY experience: Pay attention to files downloaded from this website: they can include malware... very difficult to detect with normal anti virus.
My recommendation: Use known web services like VirusTotal to check files or BETTER: more web service like "hybrid-analysis" , as they run files in virtual environment and DISCOVER real behaviour. For example: sample tries to connect to other nodes in your local home network 192.168.x or what files it will try to read or worst, to MODIFY in your PC or laptop. Good luck!

the site is okay, but before you download a file from it make sure that you un-check "Use our download manager.." because you'll get a virus and some bloatware

The downloader downloaded 7 different viruses! After that, the original download started on the last percent....
There have been trojans, viruses, and exploitive attacks.
Be aware and if you need to use this service (not recommended) update your antivir before.

I tried to download a file, and instead the site downloaded "download manager" -- an infected file -- even though I had unchecked the box to download it.

Donot download the "Download Manager" (DFH Download Manager [1] or [2].exe)
AVG 2013 Detects it as: Adware AdInstaller.P.
Otherwise the site is ok, but use with EXTREME CAUTION!
