Was a great site but in 2011, turn out to be very misleading, wind up downloading the wrong stuff because the site redirect to confusing pages with big "start your download here" and you download something else (usually crapware)

Usually a good site, although some of the software on here can be rogue software others are completely legitimate, e.g. AVG Free and avast are fine. But things like the "Broadband download monitor" show up as adware on most anti-virus packages (i checked it on ***** and got a 30/41 result.
so as always just be careful what you download and don't assume just because it's posted on this legitimate website that the software is clean.

Unfortunately CNet has let their standards fall by the wayside. There are numerous reports of Trojans and Malware contained in the downloads they promote on the site. I suggest looking at other sites for downloads now.

This website is useful when it comes to downloads. They scan and make sure that the uploaded files are safe. Although some comments can be different from what might come out, this site deserves a 5-star rating for it's good service.
I have downloaded 5 items in this. Out of the 5, only 1 has been a trojan.
