My impression of CNet was good, so I felt comfortable using their site to download software. That was until my recent experience. In the middle of the download process, there was an obscure reference to Incredimail, which apparently had to be accepted to proceed with the download. I did not realize this until many of my important programs would not open at all. I went through the uninstall process, but the problems persist. Incredimail files are buried everywhere. What a waste of time, and effort, and potential expense if I have to wipe the disk. Very disappointed with CNet!

Transformed from one of the safest to one of the worst file hosting sites overnight. Embeds spyware into their files. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Forces you to install some other software when downloading anything from their site now. I dont know how install the software... do I have to install the other software along with the one I intended to download... why is this forced!

I was recently redirected to DOWNLOAD.CNET when wanting to update my Auslogics Disk Defragmenter program. Hidden in the executable file was was a programme called Incredimail which loaded up, changed my Firefox search engine and kept installing itself all over the place. It has taken me ages to get rid of it and am still unsure if it's gone for good yet. I used to think CNET were above this but now I know they're not.

do not believe this website, the package that you download from ***** site inside the Trojans and unpacked and installed the program with toolbar you can not use Internet Explorer. It will replace your page with the other y false image, that created a virus. Believe it when I know the truth about this site. It's really no one did not even try to check them for viruses. I apologize for how you've named the you're not really careful. Believe none of your anti-virus software will not protect your computer except for one well I would not say that it is their anti-virus 2 is to find the most secret of viruses, trojans and other malware your computing easily and safely without them says the hassle of whom have nothing to buy anti-virus software useless. You think i'm wrong Get The program check with antivirus online scanner where you will see a green sachet is a download product containing Trojans. try it and then have it a good site or not I am from they were eligible for downloading lots of programs there which did not download packs will need to mess with your computer. probably still the best site to shop for software but recently a lot of the programs come with the Open Candy installer, and like many I feel it is spyware, and Open Candy does not deny that it is, but rather defends why they are using spyware - so that developers and advertisers can target market more efficiently. So for now I browse the site and download the programs I choose from other sites. I hope they rectify this soon

This site is great for downloading software for PC. But recently as of September 2011 it now bundling Shovelware with their downloads. Users are no longer able to download the installer of the program directly, but have to download a "manager" from Download.com, which will then download the program the user requires along with a selection of shovelware. There are also unconfirmed reports of this cause virus to be downloaded into users' computers.

If you download software from here CNET now use their own "Downloading Software". It will also download and install unwanted and unasked-for stuff from Incredimail and other suppliers. The home page of your browser is hijacked to Incredimail and unasked for add-ons installed into your browser. Cleaning up took me ages. Avoid now at all costs.

I have noted on numerous occasions, the CNET site states in its search result, that "software is free." Yet, after going on to the site, I find that the real case is the software is only available for a limited free TRIAL, after which, the consumer must either purchase the software or no longer use it. This is deceptive practice on the part of CNET and I should think such a well-reputed source would be above engaging in such questionable methodology.
