Facebook is fun. But I wouldn't rate tg high for safety ( giving away info to the world), trustworthiness ( all the "free apps" have a hook behind the bait) or child safety (but they shouldn't be on an open site!).

Not as private. Email address and other details can be accessed by non-friend as well.

Horrible costumer service, spam and phishing are common, allows hateful groups, have seen SOME adult content, but that's rare.
Would not recommend to one who doesn't know the basics of facebook safety, internet safety or under the age of 13. Preferably under the age of 15.
Otherwise a great site to keep in contact with old friends and family members.

Privacy settings are not securised at all by default and the average user does not have the knowledge on how to set them properly.

Not much of a learning curve. Noobs can pick up the basics of facebook use easily. You're often not as private as you think you are and children are more in danger of being bullied than they are of being contacted by strange people. it's easy enough to deny people you dont know who request you as a friend.
