They do not "broadcast to the world" high-volume spam. But they do put people on their mailing lists who did not sign up for it. Case in point, one of the anti-spam researchers here at work who does not do computer gaming, at all, and would never have signed up for their mail. That can happen; someone somewhere puts in a bad email address. But this guy has an unusual name. How would they have gotten it? The problem is, there is no unsubscribe link. I examined the email in the "missed spam complaint" very carefully, and there is no clue about getting removed from their list. I've looked around at their web page, how the heck do you unsubscribe from their newslettter? No clue anywhere. And the real kicker -- Google searching for "funcom spam" finds some blog postings with "Why are you sending me this, how can I get off your list? complaints. The moderator of the list fired back with a rude comment, but nothing about how to get off the list. Those postings had been deleted, but Google's cache has a copy.
