Google makes its money by tracking us. This is no secret, they track just about every site you visit (as most sites use google-analytics to give them information about who's visiting their site. Convenient for google). Google "uses this information to display better ads relative to you". who knows what else they do with the information.
Regardless their search engine is second to none. But there is no reason to give trustworthiness and privacy anything higher than unsatisfactory.

Great search engine. One thing I like about google is that is does not have a lot of news, photos, and other things on the home page. I really like google!

Why Google is now a dangerous place to visit is beyond me. I am ready to remove WOT, which has been VERY useful in the past but - they have gotten very carried away by some special interest group, somewhere.

Privacy is not something Google particularly values. Very good search engine. Very bad at privacy. Major collector of personal data!
