Pop-up advertisements are the latest form of phishing and deception, and these "reputable" sites become disreputable when they sell these phishing advertizers space on their servers. This is what happened with Yahoo in January 2014, and Yahoo has said they restricted these advertisers, but I just encountered one, yesterday, on my Android, while on Yahoo News. This is even far more dangerous to the end user, on a Windows PC, since most people are not running a "sandboxed" browser. SHAME on HEALTHCENTRAL.COM!
