Awesome, like ASUS.
Ditch the other brands (except maybe Dell or Acer, I guess) and go hardcore awesome build quality and prices with the Lenovo ThinkPad line.
(I have an IdeaPad Y570 and I am pretty much satisfied, except for the lack of backlit keyboard which I was too cheap to add on.)
Lenovo is a Chinese company that produces high quality computers. His battle cry is certainly the Think family, acquired from IBM in 2005: it is divided into three categories, known by the names ThinkPad (laptop computers), ThinkCenter (desktop computers) and ThinkServer (server computers); all three categories boast the ThinkVantage Technologies, that help to maintain the machine, avoiding possible loss of data. Lenovo is also known for the Idea line, introduced by the company to cover the scope of consumer users. Nevertheless, both families are highlighted and they differ in the electronic market for the wonderful quality of construction, typical of Chinese factories.
I ordered a Lenovo PC on January 05, 2010. As I was using a leased PC, it was important that I receive my new PC((Core Duo 15.6" Laptop, 4GB/320GB/Windows 7"G550) Asap in order to not have to pay additional lease payments. The site said that thei products shipped within 2 dayss. I was given a ship date of 01/13/10. Then, Yje ship date mysteriously changed to 01/1/10 overnight. This caused me to have to pay an additional 3 weeks lease payment. I made the payment and as I was expecting my unit to be shipped on 01/21/10 and arranged to trturn the leased machine to the leasing company on 01/25/10, thinking this would give me enough time to to receive the new unit before returning the leased one. as my PC is my livelihood being w/o it even for a day or two is crucial. Imagine my shock in discovering at midnight on 01/20/-21/10 that the ship date had been changed once again to 02/07/10. I then went to the Better Business Bureau of Eastern N.C and discovered that the number one company with the most complaints was Lenovo. based in Morrisville, NC. Lenovo was once IBM(which coined the term PC(Personal Computer) Any other unit aside from a Mac is called a clone. . I called the company and sent emails on numerous occasions and was even told by one CSR that I could cancel if I wanted to. IShter last night , I was so furious as Lenovo advertised a product they did not have.. Promised a ship date they knew they cold not keep and then kept delaying my ship date.I was told that I woould receive a $25 discount for my "trouble". I ad planned to urchase a printer, as wll but I want nothing to do with this company anymore. With this typeof customer service, I can only imagine what type of problems I would have run into had I received a defective machine. There were many complaints such as mine, also, cash discrepancies in the amount quoted and what was actually taken out if individuals's accounts. Many people received Units that were not remotely what they had ordered. and many had been spoken to harshly and treated rudely by employees of Lenovo. You may fo the the BBB of Eastern North Carolina and read allthis for yourself. As for me, I cancelled my order and even then, the CSR was trying to coax me into taking a "confirmationnumber " and promising to get a unit shipped to me, Having called the company abd sent 2 emaiils cancelling mu order I just opened my email to discover a letter from the in-bound sales rep who took my original order acting as if he had no idea that I jad cancelled and promising to expediate my shipment. I politely informed him the order wss cancelled and rhere was nothinbg they could do at this point to change my mind. Sincerely,
