CRAPWARE site. These folks do everything bad and wrong. It is possible that the software is effective, but you will never know. Bait and switch tricks to get you to buy the "pro" version. Adware, goes without saying, but not thoroughly outrageous in and of itself. One expects a little of that with a free version. What IS outrageous is that, when you install the program, the the gawdawful Ask Toolbar installs itself everywhere on your system WITHOUT ASKING. AND ... guess what? The Ask Toolbar now comes WITHOUT an uninstaller. You have to go online and search for a special removal tool. It should come as no surprise that the Ask Toolbar infests the pathetic Internet Explorer and sets itself as the home page. That will have to be restored to some decent home page like Google (which I recommend as faster, better, and safer than other possible choices like Yahoo). Furthermore, Mask My IP, when uninstalled, leaves Firefox set for a proxy server which is no longer available. You have to go to Tools > Options > Advanced tab > Network tab, select the Network Settings button, then select "no proxy". No problem, right? Well, it probably is for most users. Oh, and after uninstalling Mask My IP and doing all the other restoration tasks, BE SURE TO RUN CCLEANER (a magnificent freeware program) to clean your Registry (it will be full of leftover Mask My IP entries). Caveat emptor, folks. STAY AWAY from this site and this software.
