Hello! Here's my two cents on PDFLite. I am not affiliated with PDFLite in any way other than a satisfied user=) ********* OVERVIEW OF MY "TWO CENTS" ********* I dont know what the domain was like back in 2009, but I can attest that as of 2011 since I started using this open-source PDF software (based, as someone mentioned on SumatraPDF), the site is safe, the software is safe. The only annoyance is during their installation, but its only the normal annoyance of asking you to try out their advertisting partners. As an open source software in which the software storage and mirrors need money in order for it to persist, it is to be expected. Gimp, Pidgeon, and other open source/free software I know have been forced in the past to employ this in order to keep up with costs of upkeeping the software on their servers. When you install the latest version, you encounter several screens that disclose their advertisting and toolbar partners- which you CAN if you READ and not rush through the installation, uncheck and move on. Its very simple and its not hidden, although their wording can be annoying. But if you're careful you can avoid downloading annoying toolbar/other/advertisting software if you dont want it. THAT BEING SAID,OTHERWISE there are no attached phishing software to their downloads, nor trojans, etc. I just moved away from a security software to another, which required scans of my system that already had PDFLite installed on it...and repeatedly my system came away clean. ****** NORTON SAFE SEARCH OPINION +THEIR MIRROR LOCATIONS ****** Norton Safe Search gave them a green light Okay button when I searched under keyword "PDFlite." The site is safe. They have a mirror download site from CNET's Download.com, which is the most reputable free/shareware downloads listings I know, and I trust every download that comes from there, as they triple scan and test their listed offerings. ***** MY SCAN RESULTS ******* Addtitionally I just downloaded the latest version of the software- which is their Reader, Printer, and Converter package- and have run the following scans on them: Malware Bytes = Report :"The scan completed successfully. No Malicious items were detected." Microsoft Security Essentials= Report: "No threats were detected on your PC through this scan." ***** IN SUMMATION: **** So again, the only annoyance, which I feel is a VERY VERY VERY common practice is the following. Repeating from the above verbatim: The only annoyance is during their installation, but its only the normal annoyance of asking you to try out their advertisting partners. THEY STILL ALLOW YOU TO FULLY UNCHECK AND BACK OUT of DOWNLOADING THEIR PARTNERS' SOFTWARE, even though maybe their wording could be a little less sales-oriented/gimmicky. PDFLite is a great, light product, a great alternative to heavy Adobe-like products. Take a leap of faith and give pdflite.com, the URL domain, and the product, PDFLite, a chance ! As long as you're careful to un-check boxes to their toolbar and advertising partners during installation your system should be fine, undisturbed and you will enjoy a wonderful open-source product =)

The Admins told me it is safe now. I wouldn't download the program either.

There are definately no viruses on this site, in fact PDFLite (the product I downloaded from this site) is the perfect, light PDF reader which could also convert all my documents to PDF too (and very easy to use!) Thanks!

The site is completely safe. PDFlite is a great small application for opening PDF files and converting to PDF files. I believe the bad rating is due to the sites previous owners.
1
The negative ratings are ALL based on 2009 information. This is a new company as of 2011. It is not the same company that was a "clone" site. Stop rating it as bad unless you actually came across viruses or something. This site does not have viruses and it is a really good product if you need to create pdf files. The mass hysteria needs to end.

The website is no longer a phishing site. It releases legitimate software called PDFlite for Windows which is a fork of SumatraPDF. The software is very good actually.
