This is DEFINITELY NOT a green site. This site is owned by a scammer that bills themselves as SafeApp Software. They sell two utilities (that I know of) - Registry Helper and DiskCleaner. The former is featured on this site. All the hallmarks of a scam are found here: • The software is promoted on multiple sites Only scammers resort to using multiple domains that either promote the same product or redirect to the same domain. • Genuine, verifiable, contact information is not available Scammers always go out of their way to hide their identity. In striking contrast, legitimate companies always want you to know who they are and where you can reach them, sometimes to an excess. The only so-called contact information you will find on the site of a scammer is a web email form. You will NEVER find a working phone number or names of company officers. On the site, it says that Registry Helper is "a utility that was principally engineered by a leading industry expert." Well then, WHO IS HE? • The registration info for the domains owned by this so-called "company" is hidden by SecureWhois When you look up the domain registration information for legitimate companies, you will always find legitimate information. They never use services like Domains by Proxy, SecureWhois and others to obscure the real information. If you see someone defending this practice in a review, when it involves the domain for a business, then you know you are dealing with a bona-fide scammer. • The price for their software is positively ABSURD Who the heck is SafeApp Software? The give an address in Harrison, NY. A scammer could pull that off of Google maps and post it on the site. Without a phone number, it means NOTHING. $69.95 for this software? They're joking, right? That's a serious amount of cash to spend on a single-use utility. It's insane when the seller is a nobody. If you search legitimate publications like PC Magazine and PC World, you won't find any mention of Registry Helper or SafeApp Software. For $69.95, you have a right to expect that. In fact, you should demand it. On the home page for this site, you need to dig to find any information that suggests the software has a stiff price. The only thing you see on the home page is lots of suggestions that you download the software - subtly suggesting that it might be free. There is no mention whatsoever on the home page that you must actually buy the software for it to work - assuming it is any good at all - a very dubious proposition. If you install this software, you will assuredly be nagged to "register" after the software has found a variety of bogus errors. The Federal Trade Commission describes this as a deceptive business practice. Why are there SO MANY registry utilities from scammers? Simple. Most PC users are lacking in technical knowledge. They don't have a clue to how to deal with the registry. I have a friend who is an engineer that writes custom software for a defense contractor that is used in guidance systems - even HE knows little about the registry. This is fertile ground for scammers. In summary, SafeApp Software is just another rip-off scammer selling crapware.
