Awesome site. Best RP experience on the internet, and 100% safe.
Started just a few months ago, and easily the best website I have encountered yet. Good people, good material, good software, and I, personally, don't really see what more you could ask for.
This is an excellent and safe rpg community! I was a member for several years, and have recently returned. I left because life got too busy. I returned because I missed it! I would not hesitate to allow my kids (I have 4) to join this online community.
I've been a member of this site since 2007, and visit nearly daily, generally multiple times a day. I'd go so far as to say the majority of my internet presence is on this site. It's obvious to me that the poor ratings reflected here are the work of some troll with no life, because there's not one aspect of this site that is faulty.
Trustworthy? Those who manage the site are transparent to a degree I've never seen anywhere else, are are always involved with the members. There's a wishlist thread where we can say what improvements we'd like to see made to the site, and the staff let us know which ones they're working on, and which ones aren't feasible (and why). This isn't a for-profit site, it's run for the love of the game.
Vendor Reliability? This one doesn't really apply, since as far as I know there is no merchandise for sale here. The only monetary transactions that occur are voluntary donations to help pay for server costs and the like, and my personal experiences in this area have been excellent. There is a small incentive for donating, called 'Community Supporter' status, and I've donated a few times on behalf of myself and a few friends. Each time the process was concluded quickly, and the only problem I had (a result of my own errors in sending the money) was cleared up with direct and timely communication with the fellow who handles such things.
Privacy? The site doesn't collect much private information, and what information there is, is completely under a person's control whether to display or not. A person chooses what they share, and can delete content at any time if they change their mind.
Child Safety? There are strict rules in place and 'the Reds' (moderators) enforce them rigorously. Furthermore, we are a community of good people, including several parents, who would not stand idly by if there was endangering happening.
As for Spam, in my six years on the site, I've seen spam (only of the third-party variety) maybe three times. Each time it was quickly removed once it was brought to the attention of the hard-working moderators. The site itself does not spam in anyway.
This is a great web site, for a great community. It is spam-free, and I have had only the best interactions with other members of the community.
(Although I used this site for many years as a regular member, I am now the site owner.)
I have been a member of this site since 2005 and I have never had any issues with spam or anything that I found to be questionable for children. The site has made it clear of its rules being PG-13 and have made great strides in keeping it that way.
If you like to roleplay using play-by-post, this is the site to go to. I've had nothing but good experiences with it, even becoming a Supporter. The FAQ and help files are outstanding, and with 30,000+ registered users, it's the way to go. No problems whatsoever here!
Ciao,
John
I have been a member of rpgcrossing.com since 2006, and it's the only site I have subscribed to for that long. The transactions have never caused me any problems, which I thank them for. It's nice to find sites run by people that are honest to goodness *nice* for a change. I'm amazed at the ratings here and can't honestly say I trust WOT's findings anymore.
Simple version:
Trustworthiness - I trust RPGX more than I trust WOT.
Vendor Reliability - Easy, straightforward, no questions and no trouble.
Privacy - No troubles here.
Child Safety - Strict PG-13 rating well known, everyone listens to the point I've never seen enforcement necessary. (Can't say this for many sites.)
The RPGX membership process is simple, private, and easy to get through, and their briefly associated "new" status means that not every robot can auto-create accounts one after another and send out 250 messages instantly (which I've known to happen on other sites). Sure there are a few people who use the forum I'd rather not have to deal with, but I think my list is four names, out of more than 30,000.
I visit RPGx regularly. The site and its owners and administrators are entirely trustworthy and reliable, and I've never had a moment's trouble with privacy. The site is well maintained and spam free. It is also child safe. My oldest plays games there as well. :-D
Great community!
I've been an active member on the site for over a year now and have had nothing but great experiences. Site staff go above and beyond encouraging members, old and new, to get involved. Looking forward to the year and beyond!
I don't understand why people would want to rate RPGX poorly, other than maybe the jealous idjits over at the Website That Shall Not Be Named Full of Ninnys and Boggarts All (but who believes in factional warfare? Not I, says the cat). But then, I wouldn't put it past them.
A fantastic site full of fantastic people, the one bad egg I know doesn't ruin the literally half-hundred I know otherwise, and that's not including the people I don't know-know but otherwise-know, y'know? Come in, have a good time, make it fun, and do what you want. It's a group effort, and we're all here to have fun.
Well, except Arucard. He plays for keeps.
This is the best site for playing online role-playing games, period! I've never had a problem using it and the site is maintained with a high degree of professionalism.
I am at a loss as to the low score. Perhaps a mistake? I have been on RPGx (formerly DnDOG) since 2005. They are reliable, Spam-Free and child friendly.
The best Role Play site on the net in my opinion.
The website not only has best spam protection, privacy policy and security, but also has the best possible staff I have ever encountered.
The community is friendly and mature, mostly aged between 25 and 40. It's not only staff who you can ask for help. If you're lost there is the whole friendly community ready to help anyone.
The site has no pop-up advertisements. If someone decides to spend a few dollars, among with the many features, they will be able to completely disable the advertisements, which is a very excellent feature. Speaking of payments - they are reliable. The benefits come within minutes after the money is sent, and I still didn't regret becoming a Supporter.
Nothing threatening about this website, not from a privacy issue, not from a juvenile issue, and not from a reliability issue. They're safer than ANY retail site! Don't know how it got the low rating but that is just not the case.
I don't know where the spam comment has come from, I have been visiting the site regularly since 2006 and have not had a single issue with spam. Rather this site has been incredibly good about letting me decide whether I want them to send me information or not, and I have voluntarily donated and become a Community Supporter to show my appreciation and do what I can to keep the site running.
The moderator staff is fair and keeps the site clean, child friendly, and PG to PG-13 rated. It is a wonderful community to be a part of and the fact that it has been rated so low by WOT gives me a less than stellar view of the effectiveness of WOT. If this fantastic site can end up with such a low reputation I have to wonder how valid any reputation this site gives out is.
I visit the site daily, and have for years. It is a fine site, wonderful community, and the fact that the moderators THERE would have handled someone like GURBL faster and better than the moderators here tells me that I may soon need to uninstall WOT, since WOT is showing me an excellent example of a website I CANNOT Trust, itself.
If a single, malicious person can do what GURBL has done to my favorite site, and others, it appears, and still remain as an active and viable member of the WOT community, that tells me that the WOT community doesn't deserve my trust.
I've joined RPGcrossing about a year ago and haven't had any troubles. I like the gaming community there. No bloody idea where this whole spamidea comes from.
