I don't understand how this site has a rating of 'Poor' but ***** has a rating of 'Excellent'. I once went to a venue (in the UK) and there were some ***** addresses printed around. I can't remember any offhand though. There will be ***** dud websites but .com on its own is far from perfect on this front (goggle.com, navashield.com).
***** is owned by CentralNic.
The purpose of this domain name is to {primarily} offer contributory infringement & dilution services to enterprise's {generally} intent on fraudulently representing themselves as another firm, under a ".com" pretence.
In their own words, confirming my view, they state :-( "CentralNic's domains provide an alternative to the existing Top Level Domains (TLDs) and Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs), allowing the creation of a simultaneously local and global Internet Identity."
Anything ending in ".com" is governed by VeriSign; and ICANN & IANA don't list "*****" as a recognized domain ending, compared with the recognized ending of ".co.uk".
i.e. Alco Leisure Limited "trading as" - "Landcruise" by /under ***** is a fraudulent representation of ***** .
If your a consumer, exercise caution with any firm conducting business with a CentralNic / uk.com domain name ending. Chances are, the business is not a beloved companion to the original business, presenting commercial services with a ".com" .
Buyer beware!
people who say all websites ending in "uk.com" are spam websites fundamentally understand nothing about the DNS and their reviews can't be relied upon - this is like saying all websites ending in .net or .info or .org are bad or good just because of your experience with one website! if the people using WOT don't know enough to understand this, then their reviews and opinions really can't be taken seriously. the only thing any site ending in ".uk.com" has in common with any other is that it uses the same domain ending (in the same way millions of sites use .net, .org, .com on its own, etc). absolutely ridiculous. there are lots of individual websites out there that are good and bad - but whether they're good or bad has nothing to do with the fact that they end in ".uk.com" or not!
It's low ratings like this that are giving WOT a bad name. ***** is one of the earliest UK domain registrars, setup in conjunction with internet founder Jon Postal in the mid 90's as an alternative to co.uk. If this site dosn't get 5/5 on all counts then WOT is a total fail.
