Now bundle ASK toolbar and ads for Uniblue RegistryBooster scareware. I do not recommend Avira anymore.
That's sad Avira did take that turn.

while Avira offered to add a Webguard to their good Antivirus program, the ASK. toolbar was installed.
this bloody, introsive toolbar did even change the color setting in my IE8 browser and I could not get the proper colors back, other than after removing Ask from my system .
I miss a category: installing unwanted programs,

Recently became a partner of Uniblue Software and Ask Toolbar, 2 companies that spread crapware all around the web. Sad that the better free antivirus went to the "dark side" ... Now i'm sticking with Avast and will recomend it to all my friends ...

Company is now promoting rogue software and asks for an Ask Toolbar to be installed to properly use the free version.

Sadly, the company that offers this excellent antivirus product has gone down the road of so many others and is now partnering with Uniblue and Ask.com. Update popups encourage people to get Uniblue Speed Up My PC 2011 and the Ask toolbar is incorporated with Web Guard. Users should be aware that downloading/using a registry cleaner is not in their best interests nor is allowing the installation of an adware based toolbar. An announcement about this was posted in a security forum I frequent.

Please carefully consider using Avira, and consider another antivirus if possible.

Great anti-virus software with the free product being superior to many paid antivirus out there.
You do get a pop up every day asking to upgrade but you don't blame them really.

I go as far as to say that Avira is a terrific site. I've protected our pc's at home with Avira freeware for years and have never had any issues.
